It can be used for storage for Internet applications, backups, disaster recovery, data archives, data lakes for analytics, and hybrid cloud storage.
① Amazon S3 is designed for 99.999999999% (11 9s) of data durability.
② AWS aims to provide scalability, high availability, and low latency with high durability and availability.
③ AWS launched S3 in the United States in March 2006, and Europe in November 2007
④ Amazon S3 operates the scalable storage infrastructure that Amazon. com uses to run its e-commerce network.
⑤ AWS S3 allowed choosing from supported checksum algorithms SHA-1, SHA-256, CRC32, or CRC32C.
⑥ Amazon declared that AWS S3 stored more than 100 trillion objects as of March 2021.
⑦ In 2017 AWS added default encryption capabilities at the bucket level.
